Navratri 2023: Shardiya Navratri has started from 15th October and will end on 24th October 2023. This year Mata Rani has arrived on an elephant. The festival of Shardiya Navratri is a festival of Shakti Sadhana for 9 days, which is celebrated from Pratipada Tithi of Ashwin Shukla Paksha to Navami Tithi according to the Panchang.

During 9 days of Navratri, different forms of Goddess Durga are worshiped every day, devotees observe a fast for 9 days and there is a devotional atmosphere all around. This is the first verse of Argalastotra. This verse can be recited by chanting Om. As-

Om Jayanti Mangala Kali Bhadrakali Kapalini.
Durga Kshama Shiva Dhatri Swaha Swadha Namostu Te.

Being an Argala source, it is based on Anushtup verse. There are 32 letters in Anushtup verse and this verse is complete even without Om.   • Black, Kalayati Bhakshayati Pralayakale Sarvam Iti Kali, The one who engulfs the entire creation in the time of doomsday is ‘Kali’.
  • bhadrakali, Bhadram Mangalam Sukham Va Kalayati Acceptorati Bhaktebhyo Datum Iti Bhadrakali Sukhprada, The one who accepts wealth, happiness or auspiciousness only to give it to her devotees is ‘Bhadrakali’.
  • kapalini: The one who wears a skull in her hand and a necklace around her neck is ‘Kapalini’.
  • Durga, Durga, The Jagadambika which is achieved through the difficult means of Ashtangayoga, work and worship is called ‘Durga’.
  • Forgiveness, Ability to tolerate bhaktanaam anyesha wa sarvaanparadhaanj nanitvenaatishayakarunamayasvabhavaditi kshama, Being the mother of the entire world and having a very compassionate nature, she forgives all the sins of devotees and others, her name is ‘Kshama’.
  • Shiva: Shiva i.e. Jagdamba who does welfare for everyone is called ‘Shiva’.
  • midwife: Due to holding the entire world, one name of Bhagwati is ‘Dhatri’.
  • Swaha: The name of the goddess who nourishes the gods by accepting the yagya in the form of Swaha is ‘Swaha’.
  • Swadha: The name of the goddess who does charity to the ancestors by accepting Shraddha and Tarpan in Swadha form is ‘Swadha’.
